Wordpress!? My professor introduced this to us 3 years ago! I never thought it would catch on!

On to more pressing news, I intend to become a candidate to OCC upon my graduation this May, being as that I was too late into my junior year to begin OCS/PLC. I've been researching what I can and to my surprise, a blog site has provided a lot more insight on the process than would an official site.

I would simply like to thank you for supplying what knowledge you can share and commend you for the efforts you've employed them in.

btw, how far along are you now? current rank? station? how many more years on contract?

I've been doing the Armstrong Program for about a year now. It got me up to 21-23 pull ups when I am feeling good. On a bad day I'll hit anywhere from 18-20. I haven't been noticing any improvements recently. I have been taking about a week off every 4-5 weeks. Any advice? Thanks

Can any of you guys tell me what the main differences are between Juniors and Seniors? Is there anything I should do differently or training for specifically? I hear so many people say that Juniors is cake in comparison, but I found it to be extremely difficult, maybe I'm just weak. I think Seniors will be easier for me because it won't be such a culture shock.

Absolutely. This happens a lot. Try these techniques:

1. Scale back the reps, increase the rest between workouts.
2. Warm up slowly and deliberately. Cool down slowly.
3. Ice your elbows after each workout is over or when tendinitis pain is felt.
4. Add weight, reduce number of pullups in each working set.
5. Do pushups and pullups on different days.
6. Vary grip (wide, narrow, natural), palm orientation (in/out/staggered), and bar thickness as much as possible.
7. Vary pushup form as much as possible between diamond, wide, narrow, boxer's pushup, and hand placement relative to ribcage.
8. Stretch arms and shoulders daily, especially in a heated environment like a sauna.
9. Take anti-inflammatories when pain is bad.

There are many ways to combat the tendinitis that often comes with pushups and pullups. If none of these help, REST! Good luck!

Hello--Am a 58 year old former Marine, and want to do 20 pullups. Max I did was 18 last March (a year ago) until I separated my shoulder in a biking accident. Am back up to 15, but in the past when doing lots of pushups and pullups, have had problems with tendinitis in both elbows. Any good ideas? Thanks.

Pat,

Not sure if you still follow your post but I want to wish you well on your Marine Corps career. As you know, leading Marines is sacred and it’s an honor to your country and to your Marines!

I served on the enlisted side for six years and now working for a major corporation. There is nothing greater than the experience of being a Marine so make every bet of it. I am cutting close to 30 and I don’t want to live life with regret so I am looking to see if I can get an age waiver and will look at your historical posts on fitness and what to expect.

Shock factor wont be an issue except keeping up with the young studs! Stay in touch and shoot me an email as I would love to speak with you one day!
